A streaming app lives or dies on its home screen. Before designing it, the category was studied: how the leading apps structure browsing, and which colours suit how people actually watch.
servicesThe research board notes that apps in this segment mostly use dark grey or black — to reduce eye strain, because most people watch at night. Hotstar, Netflix and Prime were broken down screen by screen, the layout was sketched by hand, and three accent directions — yellow, blue and orange — were tried on the same home screen.
Sign-in, verification and first-time registration stay on the same dark canvas as the app, with one field and one button per screen.
Home opens on a full-bleed title with play and my list, then continue watching, trending now and TV shows as scrolling rows. Movies and series have their own tabs, and a side menu holds everything else.
